The day Wednesday, December 13, 2023 was a very important day for the management and trainees of Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute, Kurla. The day when we had not one but two visits scheduled to our institute.
First the visit of the team from DB Engineering & Consulting consisting of Mr. Heiko Scholz, Global Director, DB Rail Academy, Farkfurt, Ms. Irina Balzer, Manager Consultant DB Rail Academy, Berlin, Ms. Surabhi Sharma, General Manager, Western Region, India and Nishant Vyas, Head Consulting, India. DB Rail Academy, part of Deutsche Bahn AG, the global leading mobility operator on rail, road, water and air. In India DB Engineering & Consulting and its consortium partners are the General consultants for the project implementation from concept to commissioning of Metro Lines 4, 10 & 12 in Mumbai. The purpose of Mr. Scholz visit to India was for cooperation discussions with potential partners for vocational education / academic education in the field of electronics for industrial services or mechatronics. Mr. Scholz visit to Don Bosco Industrial Institute was on the recommendation of AHK- The German Chamber of Commerce Abroad. Mr. Scholz was highly impressed by the visit to the facility and competency on display. The discussion revolved around vocation education and language skills to get the trainees ready to join the work force in Germany. The trainees had an opportunity to display the German language skills and technical skills.
The second visit was from Mr. Achim Fabig, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai accompanied by Mr. Erik Kurzweil, Director for Indo-Pacific Policy, South Asia at the Federal Foreign Office.
The visit of Mr. Achim Fabig & Mr Erik Kurzweil was a much anticipated visit. Mr Achim had taken time out from his busy schedule to discuss areas of mutual interest. The visit gave Don Bosco ITI an opportunity to present the various works done in skilling the marginalized youth of the society providing them skills for life and means to earn their livelihood following the ethos of our founder father Don Bosco. Mr. Achim and Mr. Erik were very impressed by the work Don Bosco ITI is doing in vocational training. After a brief presentation Mr. Fabig and Mr. Kurzweil had a tour of the facility led by our Principal, Mr. Amarr Prabhu.
In the end it was a very good days with the praise and accolades received from the visiting dignitaries. Recognition of the work Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute has been doing in the area of Vocation Education skilling the trainees with life skills to earn their livelihood and live a life of dignity. The management of Don Bosco Industrial Training Institute is looking forward to the opportunity ahead to collaborate and provide accelerated growth to the careers of the trainees in the global market especially in Germany.
