The 59th Annual Sports Day of DB-ITI, Kurla was held on November 27, 2023. A day eagerly awaited by all the participants, trainees and faculty alike. The cloudy condition and impending rains withstanding could not dampen the spirits and resolve to have the sports day and day turning out to be bright and sunny. 

The Annual Sports Day a legacy carried on for the past 58 years.  A day where the trainees gather not only to showcase the athletic prowess but to celebrate unity, teamwork, and the spirit of healthy competition.  The day was graced by the presence of Mr.Jaiprakash Vaishya Founder & Director Cosmos Integrated Solutions Pvt. Ltd,  Rector & Director DBCL Rev. Fr. Anthony Pinto , Mr.Pankaj Sanghai  Past pupil & Entrepreneur,  Fr McEnroe Lopez, Administrator DBCL,  Fr. Brian Moras,  Assistant Director DBC Fr. Charles Anthony, Assistant Director DBIT,  Fr Nelson Carvalho, Campus Minister DBCL.

The guests were welcomed by our Principal Mr. Amarr Prabhu and led to the podium with a  Lezim dance performed by the trainees a witness to  the celebration of diversity within the group making the performance a colourful thread of cultures. This was followed  by the  grand spectacle of unity, discipline, and team spirit — The March Past. The rhythmic and synchronized movements of our Trainees as they proudly showcased their commitment to excellence. A display of order and precision, a celebration of teamwork, pride, and the vibrant spirit that defines our educational institution. The time-honored tradition the witness to seamless coordination and dedication of our Trainees as they moved forward in unison. A convergence of colors — the red of determination, the green of growth, the blue of loyalty and the yellow of positivity — all coming together in a vibrant thread of unity.

The symbolic tradition of lighting of the sports torch was done  by our Chief Guest Mr. Jaiprakash declaring the sports meet open.  The torch was held by Mst. Cherayu Shetty the Best Sports Man winner of last academic year.  The torch was then carried by the four House Representatives. This was followed by the Sportsman prayer and the Oath.  The Chief Guest then addressed the trainees. He dwelt on the values of hard work, commitment and determination to succeed in life and to grow in the career. Following the address white pigeons were released in the air carrying with them the hope for a successful, harmonious, and joyous sports meet and representing the soaring aspirations of the athletes and collective spirit of the gathering. 

The day continued with the finals of individual events like athletics and team event such as Volleyball, Box Cricket, Kabbadi, Football with the teams being cheered by the house enthusiast. In the end there were winners and runner up on the podium receiving the medallion and certificates a culmination of all the hard work and basking in the glory of the victory.

The day could not have ended without a thanksgiving speech by our Principal Mr. Amarr Prabhu thanking God for the wonderful event  in spite of all the uncertainty of the weather.  He thanked the dignitaries for their presence throughout the event, sports committee, other faculty , support staff and trainees for all their hard work in the days preceding the Annual Sport Day.

The 59th Annual Sports Day was truly a day to remember firmly etched in the memory.
